Putting You in the Picture

I founded Putting You in the Picture in 2012 because every child has the right to access the Visual Arts and engage and respond creatively on their own terms. I believe that Art education is more than copying van Gogh's Sunflowers and in this current climate, where the arts are being marginalised, it is fundamental that we make opportunities for children to develop their creativity.

I am an Art Historian and Freelance Educator with over sixteen years of experience working in learning and participation in museums and galleries and have held posts at the Serpentine Gallery and the National Gallery, London and recently redeveloped the Schools Programme for the London Transport Museum. I have written creative resources on behalf of a number of organisations such as John Lewis Partnership, Access Art and Art on the Underground and am currently lecturing at the National Portrait Gallery.

Alongside my museums and galleries work, I enjoy collaborating with schools and as a qualified teacher, have the ability to translate art historical understanding to pupils and teachers, bringing expertise and fresh ideas to the classroom. I extended my reach to local communities in Kingston upon Thames through the founding of Holiday Art Club in 2014.

In September 2015 I joined the dynamic team at The Kingston Academy (TKA) as Art Lead to embark on the adventure of setting up a brand new secondary free school for the community. Our manifesto is: "Everyone is an artist".
